Young woman rescued from river in Truro

A woman has been rescued by a passer-by from a river in Truro.

Police and paramedics were called to Town Quay amid concerns for a person's welfare.

When officers arrived at the scene on Saturday evening, they found that the woman had been rescued from the water by a member of the public.

Both were checked over by ambulance crews and the woman, who is in her twenties, was taken to hospital.

"Police were called at around 8.30pm on Saturday 30th November with reports of concern for the welfare of a woman said to be in the water at Town Quay, Truro. 

"Ambulance also attended the scene. 

"On arrival, the woman, aged in her 20s, had been rescued from the water by a male member of the public. 

"Both people were checked over by paramedics at the scene. 

"The woman was taken to hospital."
