Police update after 'serious injury crash' on A39

Police have confirmed a man in his 70s has been airlifted to hospital after a crash on Cornwall's A39.

The elderly casualty suffered serious injuries to his head and chest near Bude.

It is after a car and a lorry hit, close to Wainhouse Corner on Tuesday afternoon.

The road was closed for several hours and officers say the man remains in a serious condition at Derriford.

Anyone with dashcam footage or who witnessed the collision at around 4.15pm is being urged to come forward.

"Police received reports of a serious collision between a lorry and a car which happened on the A39 between the Tregols turning and Wainhouse Corner in Bude.

"A man in his 70s sustained serious injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital via air ambulance, where he currently remains.

"Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact police quoting 536 031219".
