Two dead dolphins have been found washed up on a quiet beach in Cornwall.

The tragic discovery was made at Castle Beach in Falmouth on Wednesday.

The local Coastguard rescue team was were called to reports of a stranding.

When they arrived, they sadly discovered that two of the creatures had died.

"Team tasked to a report of a dolphin stranded on Castle Beach, Falmouth.

"On scene it was found that, sadly, two dolphins were deceased.

"We completed the strandings report forms for the Natural History Museum, London.

"Duty of care was left with volunteers from the Marine Strandings Network".
