‘Serious crash’ on main road near St Austell

A serious crash closed a busy main road near St Austell for around 12 hours.

On vehicle was involved in the collision on the A3082 at Par.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Devon and Cornwall Police have since confirmed that the incident was fatal: Read more.

The collision happened at around 3am and closed a stretch of the road in both directions.

Emergency services had tweeted to warn drivers that it is expected to remain shut for most of the morning.

Investigation work was ongoing until mid-afternoon on Saturday but the road has since reopened.

“"Cleared: A3082 Harbour Road in both directions re-opened, earlier accident investigation work from A390 Holmbush Road to Mount Road."

“The road remained closed since the early hours of this morning”.
