One person has been treated by paramedics at the scene of an early hours crash on Cornwall's A30.

The casualty was trapped after one vehicle overturned in the roadworks at Bolventor.

Firefighters from Launceston and Bodmin were scrambled just before 5am on Monday.

The collision blocked the road for several hours, across the drive to work.

Devon and Cornwall Police have since confirmed that the casualty escaped with a minor injury.

"At 04.59am Critical Control received a call to a vehicle that had overturned with a person trapped.

"Two crews from Launceston and the rescue tender from Bodmin Community Fire Station, with a wholetime officer attend the incident.

"On arrival they found that the casualty had been released and was in the care of the ambulance service. Fire crews made vehicle safe.

"Incident now handed over to Devon and Cornwall Police".

The collision was among several incidents that closed roads in Cornwall as the tail end of Storm Atiyah swept through.

"Police were called at 5am today to the A30 at Bolventor following a single-vehicle collision. The vehicle was reported to have overturned.

"Fire service attended and the driver was safely out of the vehicle. The driver sustained a minor injury.

"The road was closed to allow for vehicle recovery. The road was cleared at 8.30am".
