Fire breaks out at residential care home

A fire has broken out at a care home in south-east Cornwall.

Firefighters got the shout to Torpoint at around 5.20am on Monday morning.

Fire evacuation advice was given and back up was called in from Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.

Crews discovered a small electrical fire which was put out with a Co2 extinguisher.

"At 5.22am critical control received a call to a smell of burning in property.

"Fire evacuation advice was given and fire crews from Torpoint Community Fire Station with assistance from Devon & Somerset FRS and an officer were mobilised.

"On arrival Torpoint Fire crews found a small electrical fire which was extinguished with a Co2 extinguisher and crews from Devon & Somerset were stood down."
