Christmas lights in Cornwall town 'deliberately cut'

Police have issued an appeal amid fears the Christmas lights in an east Cornwall town were deliberately cut.

Officers in Callington first believed the decorations at Fore Street were damaged by the bad weather.

However on closer inspection, they now think the lights were tampered with on purpose.

They are urging anyone who might know what happened to contact the Callington Neighbourhood Team or Town Council.

"Callington Police Neighbourhood Team have been advised by the Town Council that the Christmas Lights have appeared to have been cut adjacent to the traffic lights at Fore Street Callington.

"This appears to be a deliberate act.

"It was firstly believed that they were damaged due to the adverse weather recently, but sadly on further investigation the lights have been tampered with.

"Anyone with any knowledge of this incident could you please make contact either with the Town Council or Callington Neighbourhood Police Team".
