Man suffers head injuries in 'violent attack'

A man has been knocked to the ground and repeatedly kicked in a violent attack in Liskeard.

Police say the 21-year-old man suffered significant head injuries and needed treatment at Derriford Hospital.

It happened two weeks ago as he walked along Russell Street one evening.

Devon and Cornwall Police have only just released the information.

Officers say the victim was targeted by a lone male attacker who walked away towards the town centre afterwards.

The area was said to be busy at the time and anyone who saw what happened, outside Elnor Guest House, on the junction with Lanchard Lane, is urged to come forward.

"Police are appealing for witnesses of a violent attack in Liskeard.

"A 21-year-old man suffered significant head injuries in the incident which occurred on Russell Street between 6.30pm and 7pm on Wednesday 27th November.

"The man was walking along Russell Street when he was attacked outside Elnor Guest House, on the junction with Lanchard Lane. 

"He was knocked to the ground and kicked repeatedly by a lone male attacker and required treatment at Derriford Hospital.

"The male offender is thought to between 25 and 40 years old, of medium height and build and with a bald or shaved head and wearing a blue hooded top and blue jeans.

"He reportedly walked away in the direction of the town centre following the assault.

"Russell Street was busy with passing traffic at the time of the attack."
