Police car caught in crash on edge of St Ives

An officer is injured after a crash involving a police car in St Ives.

Emergency services were called to Laity Lane on Tuesday afternoon amid reports of a two-vehicle collision.

Photos show both cars having ended up in a hedge.

The driver of the other car was also injured and she has been taken to Treliske Hospital.

Eyewitnesses told Pirate FM there were lots of emergency vehicles in the area and an investigation is underway.

"Police were called at 2.30pm today to Laity Lane, St Ives, following reports of a two vehicle collision involving a police car. 

"Fire and ambulance attended.

"A police officer sustained minor injuries.

"The female driver of the second car [and only occupant] sustained an injury but the severity is not yet known. She has been taken to Treliske Hospital.

"An investigation will be carried out into the circumstances of the collision."
