Police appeal after 'serious' traffic incident in Newquay

Police have issued an appeal after what they describe as a serious traffic incident in Newquay.

Officers were called to reports of a woman hanging onto the bonnet of a white IVECO van in the town centre.

They have since confirmed that the lady has been found and was not injured.

The vehicle was spotted travelling along East Street and Cliff Road.

Newquay Police are urging anyone who saw something, just after 1.30pm last Friday afternoon, to come forward.

"This was a very serious incident which could easily have resulted in the woman on the bonnet of the vehicle being killed or seriously injured.

"We are appealing to any witnesses who may have seen this incident to contact Newquay police on 101 quoting reference CR/109691/19".

A driver was arrested on suspicion dangerous driving.

The 40-year-old man has since been released under investigation, pending further police enquiries.
