Job losses confirmed at Bodmin food factory

Published by Sarah Yeoman at 1:40pm 11th December 2019.

Job losses have been confirmed just weeks before Christmas at a food factory in north Cornwall.

Pirate FM told you how up to 270 roles were at risk at Tulip Ltd in Bodmin, back in October.

The company, which produces processed meats like bacon, launched a 45-day consultation after operating at a "significant loss".

Now bosses have revealed that redundancy notices have been handed to 25 people who work within the cooked meats area of the site.

Tulip says they are "fitting the final pieces of the jigsaw into place" in terms of the cooked bacon operations.

A further update is expected by the end of the week.

"Tulip has now reached the minimum 45-day requirement for the on-going consultation process in relation to the future viability of the Bodmin manufacturing facility.

"Redundancy notices are being issued to 25 colleagues who work within the cooked meats area of the site followed the earlier announcement that these operations have now been wound up.

"For cooked bacon operations, we feel we are close to fitting the final pieces of the jigsaw into place and hope to be able to provide a further update at the end of the week."
