Manhunt after 'knifepoint robbery' in Newquay

Police have launched a manhunt after an alleged knifepoint robbery in Newquay.

Officers say a young cashier was threatened with a blade the Premier Express store on Linden Avenue.

They say a suspect stole money and bottles of brandy, before fleeing the scene towards Trenance Boating Lake.

The man are described as speaking with a Liverpool accent, white, 5ft 10' tall and of medium build.

He was wearing brown trainers with a white trim, an olive green parka style jacket with a hood and scarf pulled over his face.

Anyone who saw something on Linden Avenue at around 7pm on Wednesday evening is being urged to get in touch with police.

"Any incident involving a knife or bladed weapon is exceptionally serious. 

"Newquay  police are determined to locate this offender and bring him to justice. 

"The incident took place in a built up area and it is very likely that there are several witnesses who may have seen the offender arriving or leaving the stores.

"It is also very likely that elements of the local community are aware of the identity of the offender

Police carried out an immediate search for the suspect. Enquiries and searches currently remain ongoing.
