It has been a whirlwind election campaign for Cherilyn, who is also a Cornwall councillor, having only been selected five weeks ago.

“It all happened very quickly,” she said, “I decided to throw my hat into the ring and was selected five weeks ago.”

Asked what she wants to do for Truro and Falmouth she said there was “lots” that she was aiming to achieve.

“I have an idea of trying to find a cycle route from Truro to Falmouth. I think that would be a really good way of getting more cars off the road and tackle pollution. That is really key for me.

“Also, lots of projects around plastic waste and waste in the countryside and beaches.

“Also the money that is coming into Cornwall that is being spent properly, so the £450million that is coming for the health services, I heard that mentioned on the doorstep lots and lots of times and people have got very good ideas for how they would like it to be spent and I want to make sure it is spent how people would like it to be".

Asked if she had a message for those who voted for her Cherilyn said:

“I am so privileged and honoured that people have put their trust in me. I promise to do my best and have lots of positive energy and if people need help genuinely they should come and see me".
