A worrying tweet reveals seven police officers in Cornwall and Devon have been assaulted in just one night.

It happened on Saturday night and the force has branded the incidents as "unacceptable".

Earlier this year, Pirate FM told you the number of attacks against officers resulting in serious injury has risen.

There were 204 in 2018/2019, compared to 189 in the 12 months before: Read More.

Posting on social media, Devon and Cornwall Police are reminding locals that the police are here to protect them.

"Seven officers have been assaulted last night across Devon and Cornwall.

"It appears this is not 'the season of peace and goodwill to all men'.

"Police are there to keep the public safe and this is #unacceptable".
