Fifteen Cornwall closure: Appeal to help staff losing jobs

A Crowdfunder has been launched to help the staff losing their jobs after Fifteen Cornwall's sudden closure.

The restaurant, founded by Jamie Oliver, made the shock announcement on Thursday afternoon.

Bosses say they are "deeply saddened" by the decision, following an independent financial review.

Both the restaurant, and charity that runs it, have ceased trading with immediate effect after almost 14 years.

The Guardian is reporting that 100 jobs will be lost, 70 at the restaurant and 30 at the Cornwall Food Foundation.

"Two weeks before Christmas Day the staff of Fifteen Cornwall have lost their jobs and their wages due to the sudden and unexpected closure of the restaurant.

"A group of us have come together to raise whatever we can to support the staff through Christmas, to show our support and to share some funding to help these people get through the next few weeks.

"Anything raised will be split between the team affected via an independent financial supporter to ensure fair distribution.

"It's time to look after our own".
