Elderly woman seriously injured in 'head-on' crash

An elderly woman has suffered serious injuries after a crash in Falmouth.

It is understood the casualty in her 80s had to be cut free on Union Road.

She was rushed to Treliske after two vehicles reportedly hit head-on.

The pensioner remains in hospital after the collision on Tuesday afternoon, that closed the road for around four hours.

"Police were called at 4.30pm to Union Road, Falmouth following reports of a two-vehicle collision. 

"A woman in her 80s was taken to Treliske Hospital with serious injuries. 

"She remains there at this time.

"The other driver is not reported to have sustained any injuries.

"The road was closed whilst emergency services attended and was reopened shortly after 8pm".
