Moving of abnormal loads are set to cause M5 delays

Published by the Pirate FM News Team at 8:25am 19th December 2019. (Updated at 9:31am 19th December 2019)

Drivers using the M5 and roads in North Devon are being warned abnormal loads are likely to cause disruption.

Two mobile homes are being moved from Taunton Deane Services to Mullacott Park near Ilfracombe, under full police escort.

The convoy was due to leave at 8am and will travel southbound on the M5 to junction 27, before heading along the A361 to Barnstaple.

It will then travel along the A39 towards Bideford, over the new bridge, and back onto the A361, via Braunton, to its destination.

Devon and Cornwall Police have estimated that the journey will take around two hours, depending on traffic.

"This is likely to cause some disruption, especially on single-lane sections of road as the loads will be taking up both carriageways.

"They will have a full police escort and we ask members of public to be patient if they come across them".
