Christmas lights display helps poorly children

Published by Sarah Yeoman at 7:00am 21st December 2019. (Updated at 7:32am 21st December 2019)

This is the Christmas lights display which is helping to raise money for poorly children with cancer.

Each year Mark Verran creates a festive wonderland at his home in the Malabar area of Truro.

It is in memory of his dad who played Santa at Mallets for many years. They used to put up lights around the city centre together.

Now Mark puts on a festive display each year to help raise money for CLIC Sargent.

The charity 'fights tirelessly to stop cancer destroying young lives'.

Over Christmas 2019 the festive display has already had a visit from Olaf, the loveable snowman from the Disney hit Frozen.

Now Spiderman is paying a visit to Behenna Drive, Truro, at 6pm on Saturday 21st December.

"Each year we put on a Christmas lights display for charity CLIC. We have just received a letter of thanks and it makes me extremely proud of my partner Mark for doing what he does.

"Last year we had Mickey and Minnie mouse and served people mulled wine and mince pies when we turned on our display and this year Olaf from Frozen is coming.

"Each year my partner Mark Verran works all year round to source lights and takes around weeks to put up.

"Mark does this in honour of his dad who played the character of Santa for Mallets in Truro for many years and together they put the lights up in Truro town centre.

"We are so thankful for all the support from local people and I know people travel from a far to see them too."

Tracey Kemp, Mark's partner
