A string of updated flood alerts have gone out for Cornwall, as another severe weather warnings looms.

The Duchy has been battered by wind, downpours and flash floods so far this week.

Now another yellow alert for heavy rain kicks in at midnight and lasts through until midday on Sunday.

The Met Office says there could be more flooding and travel trouble, as people drive home for Christmas.

The Environment Agency has also issued fresh alerts for the West Cornwall Rivers, as well as the entire River Tamar.

It means flooding could be possible for Lands End, Penzance, Helston, Crowlas, St Ives, Hayle, Camborne, Portreath and Perranporth.

Polson Bridge, Horsebridge, Gunnislake, Lifton and Sydenham, Gunnislake, Calstock, Cargreen, Bere Alston, Morwellham and Cotehele along with Bude, Helebridge, Bridgerule, Canworthy Water, Launceston and Yeolmbridge could also be affected.

"Flooding is possible Friday afternoon leading in to Saturday morning.

"River levels remain high and ground is saturated following rain over the last few days.

"Heavy showers are expected to continue throughout Friday and into Saturday.

"This may lead to flooding of low lying land and roads where the heaviest rain falls.

"A further band of heavy rain is forecast on Saturday afternoon.

"Areas along the River Hayle are particularly at risk. Take care near the areas of concern and be aware of your local weather conditions.

"Avoid walking and driving through floodwater.

"We are monitoring river levels and our staff have been checking for and clearing blockages in the area."
