Driving home for Christmas safety banners on A38

These are the driving home for Christmas safety banners going up on Cornwall's A38.

The messages are being displayed between Trerulefoot to Saltash, as the getaway gets underway.

Campaign group, Safe 38, is urging drivers to watch their speed on the notorious stretch.

It follows several serious-injury and fatal crashes in recent years.

Two roadside banners have been updated with a seasonal message as a "timely reminder to all drivers in the days when the road will be most busy as people finish work and the schools break up for the holidays".

"We all look forward to Christmas but the weather and road can be especially challenging at this time of year - and especially as it's dark so early.

"We would like to encourage everyone to think about how they drive safely on this road at this special time of year.

"It only takes one small driver error to have massive implications for families and loved ones, so watch your driving, keep an eye on your speed and make sure you're driving home safely for Christmas.

"Safe38 would like to wish all a very Happy Christmas and thank everyone for their support this year".

James Millidge, Safe 38
