Nearly half a million pounds worth of Christmas presents have been stolen in Devon and Cornwall in the last five years.

A Freedom of Information Request asked Devon and Cornwall Police for information on burglaries that had taken place in December of 2014-2018.

The request also asked for how many Christmas presents were reported to have been stolen and what were the presents, as well as the total recorded value of the stolen goods.

In total, 1,828 presents were reported to have been stolen during that time frame, with a recorded value of £428,136.

The most common presents to have been stolen were cash, computer equipment, documents and jewellery, but the request also revealed that art, furniture, a motorcycle, tobacco, glasses, and even two animals were also stolen.
