Bodmin celebrates Christmas with free lunch...

Published by the Pirate FM News Team at 8:32am 25th December 2019. (Updated at 8:34am 25th December 2019)

The Old Library in Bodmin is opening its doors this Christmas Day to make sure no-one spends Christmas alone or hungry.

The 'Feast of Bodmin' is being run by local community interest company, intoBodmin, and its team of volunteers.

They create events to bring people together, experience new things and share cultural experiences in various ways.

This one is offering local food, drink and small gifts from 10am - 3pm on 25th December - free of charge!

“Like many people, I struggle with Christmas, and I realised that there are many people who would love to enjoy the Christmas I have but are unable to for various reasons.

"It seemed obvious to me that I should volunteer my time and give the gift of Christmas to someone who might enjoy it more than I do.

“We know there are people who might not get to celebrate with loved ones, or whose friends and family will be distant, or those who don’t celebrate Christmas at all.

"There may be people who won’t be able to afford to celebrate Christmas this year, and there might be people who just want to drop in and spread some cheer.

"This event really is for everyone in the community, no matter what their circumstances, race, or religion – we want to bring people together to celebrate our community with food and drink on the 25th December".

Sophie Hodge, Marketing & Outreach Manager at intoBodmin

Organisers have issued a thank you to all the local businesses who have donated to make the event possible.

The list of those who have made pledges includes Proper Cornish, Furniss, Celtic Produce, Little Wrens, Asda, Saputo/Cathedral City, Helen's Homemade Cakes Creations, Barnecutts Bakery, Cummings of Bodmin, Rafi and Friends, M&S Kingsley Village and Ola Cafe.

The Feast of Bodmin is offering a free of charge buffet and small gifts for children.

The doors will be open for between 10am and 3pm with 'anyone and everyone' welcome to drop in!
