Devon and Cornwall Police have issued a warning after their helicopter was attacked by a laser.

The force says the pilot was forced to retreat and use protective equipment during an operation on Saturday night.

The crew say they were able to locate the suspected offender in less than a minute.

However the force is urging anyone messing around with the gadgets to think twice.

"Last night our Exeter crew came under sustained attack by a laser causing the pilot to turn away and don protective equipment.

"It took the crew less than a minute to identify the offender's location.

"If convicted - up to 5 years custodial".
