Person dies after being 'hit by train' in Cornwall

A person has died after reportedly being hit by a train between Penzance and Truro.

British Transport Police and paramedics were called to the scene just before 10am amid reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Tragically they could not be saved.

Officers are now working to identify the person and tell their family. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

"Officers were called to lines in Truro at 9.49am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

GWR says services could be delayed or cancelled.

All lines are currently blocked and disruption is expected until 2.30pm on Friday afternoon.
