Lifeboat crew performed a shoreline search of Newquay Bat before the missing person was located safe, on land, by police officers.

RNLI crew returned to the harbour just after 9.15pm.

"We are grateful for the multiple phone calls from concerned members of the public who called the lifeboat station after seeing flares in the bay during tonight's search, but calling 999 and asking for the Coastguard will always provide the quickest, most appropriate response to any coastal emergency.

Please remember, in any coastal emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
