Police appeal after 'serious sexual assault' in Cornwall

Police investigating a report of a serious sexual assault in Torpoint have issued an appeal for clues.

Officers say a woman in her 40s was attacked in the area of St James' Church.

The victim is being supported by specially-trained officers after the incident in the early hours of Sunday.

Detectives have been carrying out CCTV enquiries and are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

"Police investigating a report of a serious sexual assault in Torpoint in the early hours of Sunday 29th December have appealed for information.

"The incident happened between midnight and am in the area of St James Church in St James Road and Salamanca Street.

"The victim, a woman aged in her 40s, is being supported by specially-trained officers.

"Officers have been carrying out CCTV enquiries in the area and have appealed for anyone with any information that may assist them to come forward".
