Puppy 'stolen at knifepoint': Fresh appeal one week on

A Cornwall woman has revealed how her mum was so upset when their puppy was stolen, she feared she might suffer a stroke.

It is one week since Waffle was snatched in St Austell, apparently at knifepoint.

Since then, thousands have shared appeals to find the six-month-old Labradoodle.

However the Hussain family has also received hoax calls, including one threatening to behead the pet if they did not pay £1000: Read More.

Speaking to Pirate FM on Monday, owner Cathryn's daughter, Ayehsa, appealed to anyone with any information to come forward.

"I thought she was going to have a stroke or something because she was so upset.

"It was devastating for me to see my mum in that situation.

"And then for me to have tell her about these hoax calls I've been getting and see the devastation on her face again - it was horrendous.

"We've had days where we've just cried and we've had days where we've tried to smile because of family members.

"But I've got to admit we've had so many people, online and on social media, showing their support which has been great for our family but it's been horrendous not having Waffle at home".

Police have been checking local CCTV and making enquiries into the theft of Waffle.

"The family of Waffle are very distraught and upset at the callous theft of their pet dog.

"Myself and all of the officers at the police station dealing with this crime also feel very sad for the family over what is a cruel and mean-spirited crime, especially during the Christmas period.

"I am sure that someone, somewhere knows of a friend, relative or neighbour that has suddenly come into possession of a dog that may be Waffle.

"Please contact us if you have any suspicions, as Waffle should be with his real family this Christmas".

How can I help bring Waffle home?

Waffle was stolen, apparently at knifepoint, in the Belmont Road areas of St Austell on the morning of Monday 23rd December.

The suspect is described as being around 5ft 8in tall, was wearing a black, hooded top and scarf and spoke with a foreign accent.

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101, or email 101@dc.police.uk, quoting log number 0116 231219.

Information can also be passed anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555111, or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org

Since the initial appeal the family has set up a Facebook page, Bring Waffle Home, where people can report sightings.

They have also shared a new video of the beloved family pet, described as daft but the most loving dog anyone could wish for.
