All lines were blocked into the evening on New Year's Day, with services between Liskeard and Looe cancelled too.

"Following a person being hit by a train between Liskeard and Bodmin Parkway all lines have now reopened. Train services running through these stations are returning to normal".

GWR added: "Following a person hit by a train at Liskeard this afternoon, the railway line was handed back by the emergency services at 6.30pm.

"All affected trains are now on the move. However, customers are to expect residual delays and alterations due to the displacement of crews and trains.

"If customers do not wish to complete their journeys this evening, they are welcome to use GWR trains tomorrow. GWR would like to thank customers for their forbearance this evening".

As of 9.30pm on New Year’s Day, services on the main line had returned to normal.

Replacement bus services were running between Liskeard and Looe on Wednesday evening.

However, Great Western Railway later said those services were scheduled to run as normal on Thursday.

Passengers concerned about their journeys can check the GWR journey planner before travelling.
