Woman dies after incident on rail line in Cornwall

British Transport Police have confirmed another fatal incident on Cornwall's rail lines.

Officers were called to reports of a person hit by a train at Truro, two days after Christmas.

They have since confirmed that a woman in her 70s died and her family has been told.

It is the second fatality in the Duchy in the space of a week, after a man died at Liskeard: Read More.

"Officers were called to lines in Truro at 9.49am on 27th December following reports of a casualty on the tracks. 

"Paramedics also attended however sadly a woman in her seventies was pronounced dead. 

"Her family have been informed. 

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner".
