Casualties treated after crash and oil spill on A30

Published by Sarah Yeoman at 5:43pm 3rd January 2020. (Updated at 8:30pm 4th January 2020)

Casualties have been treated by paramedics after a rush-hour crash that shut a stretch of the A30.

One vehicle overturned after a car and a van collided at Crowlas near Penzance, closing the road in both directions.

The incident left debris and oil across the carriageway on Friday evening and drivers were warned to avoid the area.

Diversions were in place, affecting traffic between Hayle and Long Rock, however the A30 had cleared at around 7pm.

"One appliance from Penzance attended a call to a two vehicle road traffic collision.

"On crews arrival they confirmed that one vehicle was on its side but no persons were trapped.

"Firefighters made the scene safe and dealt with a small fuel spillage as paramedics treated casualties.

"Once the scene was safe firefighters used a winch and strops to move the vehicle and reopen the A30".
