Crash closes stretch of A30 near Camborne

A crash that closed a stretch of the A30 in west Cornwall has been described as serious.

Several vehicles were caught in the collision between Camborne and Tolvaddon.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service confirmed one casualty was trapped and has since been taken to hospital.

"One appliance and the rescue tender from Tolvaddon Community Fire Station are at a multiple-vehicle road traffic collision involving one person trapped.

"A group manager is also in attendance to support crews.

"All three emergency services are currently on scene and fire crews are using stabilisation tools and crash rescue equipment (CRE) to release the trapped casualty.

"The A30 is currently closed eastbound between Treswithian (Camborne West) and Tolvaddon Interchange while the emergency services work to resolve the incident".

UPDATE: 20:41 "One casualty has been released from the vehicle, and is being conveyed to hospital along with two other casualties. Crews are now making up equipment".

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service

Police, paramedics and firefighters were scrambled just before 8pm on Saturday.

Listeners told Pirate FM it looked serious and there were a lot of blue lights in the area.

Highways England confirmed police had shut the eastbound carriageway and diversions were in place.

The main carriageway reopened at around 10pm but the slip road remained closed until 11pm.
