Big fire breaks out at kitchen in St Ives

A big kitchen fire has broken out in a house in St Ives.

Flames were spreading into the roof space on Carthew Way.

Firefighters from the town, Penzance and Hayle all got the shout just before 5pm on Monday afternoon.

Teams are now working to put the blaze out.

"Two fire appliances from St Ives Community Fire Station were mobilised to a kitchen fire. 

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and discovered that the fire in the kitchen of a semi-detached property, measuring 20 metres by 6 metres, was spreading to the roof space. 

"A further two fire appliances were requested and they were mobilised from Penzance and Hayle."

UPDATE at 5.41pm: "Six breathing apparatus in use."
