Multi-vehicle crash causes chaos on A38

A multi-vehicle crash on the A38, just across the Tamar Bridge, has caused travel chaos.

Pirate FM understands four vehicles were caught in the collision near St Budeaux.

It happened during the morning rush-hour, heading from Cornwall into Devon.

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed there are no reports of any significant injuries.

However at one point, five mile tailbacks were being reported to Notter Bridge on the A38 and Hatt on the A388.

"Police were  in attendance at the A38 at St Budeaux following reports of a multi vehicle collision.

"No significant injuries have been reported and all occupants are out of the vehicles.

"Highways have put a diversion in place and lane two is open".

Devon and Cornwall Police

"Traffic returned to normal. Accident cleared on A38 The Parkway eastbound before B3413 (St Budeaux Junction).

"Previous congestion to Carkeel Roundabout then back to Notter along the A38 and also back to Hatt along the A388..

"Accident now recovered and lane reopened. Traffic beginning to ease in the area".
