Firefighters called to Treliske after two 999 calls

Published by Sarah Yeoman at 5:37pm 8th January 2020.

Firefighters are called to Treliske Hospital after two 999 calls within a matter of minutes.

Crews from Truro, Tolvaddon and Perranporth all got the shout on Wednesday lunchtime.

Two manual call points had been activated in different parts of the hospital.

People could reportedly smell smoke from somewhere off site.

A full investigation was carried out and no sign of fire was found. Bosses say the call was a false alarm with good intent.

"At 12.54pm critical control received a 999 call after a manual call point was activated at a hospital premises.

"Two appliances were mobilised from Truro Community Fire Station and a flexi-duty station manager.

"At the same time a further manual call point was activated resulting in another 999 call at 12:55 for a separate part of the hospital.

"As a result, a further two appliances from Tolvaddon and Perranporth Community Fire Stations were mobilised.

"On arrival crews carried out a thorough investigation and found that both call points had been activated after people could smell smoke from an external source not on the premises.

"As a result the incident has been classified as a false alarm with good intent (FAGI)."
