Lorry load of fish blocks A39 near Truro

There have been delays on the A39 near Truro this afternoon after a lorry shed a load of fish.

Part of the road near Penmount Crematorium was blocked causing queues of traffic.

"A39 partially blocked due to shed load of fish near Penmount Crematorium turn-off. Traffic is coping well.

"In the roadworks area traffic is taking it in turns past the scene.

"Clean-up is in progress and it might take some time due to the nature of the incident.

"Affecting traffic between Truro and Carland Cross."

"An appliance from Truro and an officer are working together with Police and Environment Agency to safely clear the road of fish entrails that have fallen from a lorry.

"Firefighters have helped to repack the fish onto the lorry and are using hose reels to wash away debris from the carriageway into a safe area."

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service

Police say the road is now clear.
