A major diversion, put in place due to the incident that shut a stretch of Cornwall's A30, has now lifted.

Police have confirmed a man scaled a power line at Crowlas on Monday evening.

Specially trained negotiators were at the scene across rush-hour.

Highways England said the road was likely to remain closed across Tuesday morning but it has since reopened.

"The A30 in Cornwall is currently closed in both directions between the A3047 (Hayle) and the A394 (Penzance).

"This closure is due to a police-led incident. Emergency services, including Devon and Cornwall Police, are in attendance.

"The carriageway is expected to remain closed into the morning peak period.

"Diversion route and detailed guidance is as follows:

"Road users travelling in both directions are advised to follow the solid black circle diversion symbol on road signs.

"Westbound - At St Erth roundabout take the exit for the B3301 towards Hayle. Remain on the B3301 until its junction with the B3302 in Hayle. At the roundabout, take the B3302 following signs for Helston. Remain on the B3302 eastbound passing through Leedstown and Trenwheal continuing to follow signs for Helston. At the B3302 T-junction with the A394, turn right and take the A394 westbound towards Penzance. Remain on the A394 to its junction with the A30, Newtown roundabout, and re-join the A30 westbound.

"Eastbound - Exit the A30 at Newtown and take the A394 towards Helston. Then take the B3302 westbound towards Hayle. At Hayle, take the B3301 to re-join the A30 at the St Erth roundabout".
