HUGE car fire breaks out between A30 and Truro

This is the moment a huge car fire broke out on a back road between the A30 and Truro.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were scrambled to the B3284 near Shortlanesend.

Photos show drivers queuing behind the burning vehicle, near to the junction for Allet.

Emergency services had warned drivers to avoid the area, however the road has since cleared.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed a woman was treated for breathing in smoke.

"Five firefighters on one appliance from Truro attended a call to a car on fire which has been pulled into a layby.

"100% of the vehicle was involved in the fire on the arrival of the fire crews.

"Crews used one hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.

"Ambulance attended scene to treat one female suffering from smoke inhalation".

"Traffic returned to normal, earlier vehicle fire on B3284 in both directions between The Meadows (Shortlanesend) and A30 (Allet turn-off, Allet).

"Affecting traffic between Truro and the A30".
