Police have uncovered what they have described as a big 'cannabis cultivation' after a raid in Cornwall.

Suspects were identified after a warrant was carried out in the Bodmin area on Monday.

Officers said they were due to be interviewed and dealt with accordingly.

They have encouraged anyone with information about drugs to get in touch.

"On Monday 13th January 2020 officers from Bodmin Neighbourhood Team and response conducted a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant in the Bodmin area, which was positive for a cannabis cultivation.

"The suspects will be interviewed in due course and dealt with for offences disclosed as necessary".

"If you have concerns in relation to activities in your area please get in touch".

The post sparked a string of comments on the team's Facebook page about whether cannabis should be reclassified.

Officers responded by saying: "We see first hand the negative impact cannabis has on an individuals long term mental health and whilst some people clearly would rather we ignored this, cannabis is a class B controlled drug for a reason.

"We will continue to tackle the possession, cultivation and supply of all forms of illegal/controlled drugs".

The team added: "Possession, cultivation and supply of a class B drug are 'real crimes' with numerous associated direct and indirect negative consequences and until someone decides otherwise.

"That's how it will be dealt with".
