A Cornish seaside town has been given its very own colour.

It has been announced that the official colour of Bude as 'Breakwater Blue'.
To celebrate the official opening of the new Dulux Decorator Centre in Bude, the store asked the town's mayor Bob Willingham, community groups and local decorators to help define what the Cornish town represents.
Locals demonstrated their fondness for the smashing waves of the sea, the picturesque breakwater and the often bright blue skies - providing the inspiration to the Dulux Trade Commercial Colour Services team for the newly named colour of Bude 'Breakwater Blue'.

When it came to the colour that best represented all things Bude, three quarters of those asked (75 per cent) suggested blue, navy or turquoise.

The contributors were keen to point out the beauty of the sea lock and more than 50 per cent highlighted the breakwater which was constructed in 1819 to protect the town's canal.

A third of the community groups and staff included the partially man-made sea pool as a major feature of the popular tourist spot.

As one of the most popular British seaside towns - located in the best UK holiday region, according to the 2019 British Travel Awards - a turquoise blue was a natural choice.

"'Breakwater Blue' seems to be the perfect fit for a seaside town.

"From the picturesque canal to the sea lock, we're surrounded by amazing natural beauty that inspired everyone we talked to.

"We have over 14,000 colours available but we immediately knew that a blue would be the perfect choice to represent the town."
