Man trapped as a vehicle crashes into a building

A man has ended up trapped after a vehicle crashed into a building in a Cornish village.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at Summercourt on Saturday night, including three teams of firefighters.

Crews from Truro, St Austell and Tolvaddon had to use a stab and winch device and a ladder to free the casualty on Truck Road.

They were left in the care of the ambulance service just before 8.30pm.

The extent of their injuries is unknown, however Cornwall Fire and Rescue Services have confirmed there was no damage to the building.

“Appliances from Truro, St Austell and a Rescue Tender from Tolvaddon attended a call to a single vehicle which had gone into a building. 

“One male was trapped in trapped in the vehicle. 

“A stab fast and winch was used to stabilise the vehicle. 

“Once the vehicle was stable crews used a triple extension ladder to assist the casualty from the vehicle. 

“Once released the casualty was left in the care of ambulance paramedics. 

“Crews confirmed that no damage had been done to the building involved”.
