Elderly pedestrian dies after crash in Tavistock

An elderly man from Cornwall has died four days after a serious crash in Tavistock.

The 80-year-old pedestrian was airlifted to Derriford after being caught in a collision with a car.

He was in a critical condition in hospital after the incident on Plymouth Road on Saturday afternoon.

Investigators went over the scene and the road was closed.

Now officers have confirmed that sadly the elderly man, from the Callington area, has lost his life.

"A man has died following a collision which happened on Saturday 18th January at around 3.10pm in Tavistock.

"Police were informed by the ambulance service of the collision involving a white Fiat 500 and a pedestrian on Plymouth Road, Tavistock.

"The pedestrian, an 80-year-old man from the Callington area, was flown to Derriford Hospital by air ambulance with life threatening injuries. The man passed away this morning, Wednesday 22nd January.

"Officers from the Devon and Cornwall’s Alliance Roads Policing Team attended along with Response officers from Tavistock, a Forensic Collision Investigator and Scene of Crime Officer.

"A full investigation of the scene took place and officers are working to establish the cause of this collision."

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen this collision or have dash camera footage to contact 101 quoting Log 538 18/01/2020.
