Appeal as Cornish pensioner dies after crash

Police are appealing for dashcam footage after the crash that claimed a Cornish pensioner's life.

The pedestrian from the Callington area was caught in a collision with a car in Tavistock.

The 90-year-old man was airlifted to Derriford, but died on Wednesday morning.

Officers want to hear from anyone who saw something on Plymouth Road just after 3pm on Saturday.

"A man has died following a collision which happened on Saturday 18th January at around 3.10pm in Tavistock.

"Police were informed by the ambulance service of the collision involving a white Fiat 500 and a pedestrian on Plymouth Road, Tavistock.

"The pedestrian, an 80-year-old man from the Callington area, was flown to Derriford Hospital by air ambulance with life threatening injuries. 

"The man passed away this morning, Wednesday 22 January.

"Officers from the Devon and Cornwall's Alliance Roads Policing Team attended along with response officers from Tavistock, a Forensic Collision Investigator and Scene of Crime Officer.

"A full investigation of the scene took place and officers are working to establish the cause of this collision.

"Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen this collision or have dash camera footage to contact 101 quoting Log 538 18/01/2020".
