Homes evacuated after pub wall 'collapses' in Tavistock

The scale of the damage has been revealed after a pub wall 'collapsed' in Tavistock.

Nearby homes had to be evacuated on Pym Street but nobody was hurt.

The area was cordoned off over fears the building was unsafe.

Police and firefighters were called to the scene late on Wednesday night.

Louise spotted it on her way to work the next morning, and took photos of the damage.

The road was closed in both directions but reopened on Thursday afternoon.

"The fire service were called to reports of a building collapse at the above location. Fire control mobilised one fire engine from Tavistock.

"Once the crew got in attendance the officer in charge confirmed a wall from a three-storey property had collapsed. Crews are currently evacuating nearby properties, setting up cordons and monitoring the property.

Update at 02:30am: "The utilities to the property have now been isolated and the incident has been handed over to the police to maintain cordon put in place. 

"All persons have been accounted for and the fire service have now left the incident".
