Flat fire breaks out in Newquay in middle of the night

A flat fire breaks out in Newquay in the middle of the night.

Crews from the town, Perranporth and St Columb got the shout at around 3.30am on Friday morning.

The blaze broke out on the first floor of the property and jets were used to put it out.

Paramedics and police officers were also called to the scene on Hawkins Road.

"At 3.36am critical control were informed of a fire in the first floor of a flat.

"Newquay, Perranporth and St Columb Community Fire Stations attended the incident.

"The crews used 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets and 1 thermal imaging camera.

"South West Ambulance and Devon and Cornwall Police were also in attendance.

"The fire was extinguished and the crews then used a positive pressure ventilation fan to ventilate the property."
