In the first incident, a fire tore through bins in front of a house as a family slept upstairs.

The blaze broke out on Hawthorn Way in the early hours of Sunday 19th January.

At one point, flames were said to be licking at a baby boy's bedroom window.

Dad Chris Corneille woke up to firefighters banging on his front door and described the incident as "terrifying".

In the second incident this Wednesday, crews were called to reports of a car smelling of a flammable substance.

They found that the fire was out on arrival but the details were handed to Devon and Cornwall Police.

The second incident, that happened over the weekend, is also being investigated as a possible arson.

"Critical Control received multiple calls to three cars on fire in car parking area.

"Two appliances were mobilised - one from Truro and on from Tolvaddon Community Fire Stations, along with a Flexi-Duty Officer.

"The crews used two hose reels and two breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.

"The police were also on scene and it was believed to be arson.

"The incident was left with the police".
