Children left 'distressed and shocked' by disorder at football match

An appeal has gone out after 'disorder' at a football match in Cornwall reportedly left children distressed and shocked.

Police say it happened at a match between Falmouth and St Blazey on Saturday.

It is believed a group of Plymouth fans travelled down and let off a smoke bomb, which meant the game had to be paused.

There were also reports of a pint being thrown over a vehicle outside the ground, causing it to smash.

Officers say hundreds of people were watching and anyone with information is asked to get in touch.

"Police are currently appealing for information following reports of disorder which happened at a football match between Falmouth AFC and St Blazey AFC.

"The incident occurred at Falmouth Town Football clubhouse on Saturday 25th January.

"It is believed a group of Plymouth fans travelled down and caused a disorder within the ground including the letting off of a smoke bomb which caused the game to be paused.

"Hundreds of people were at the game, including children, and many of them were distressed and shocked by the behaviour they encountered.

"We were also called to reports of an incident which happened outside of the grounds. A man had allegedly thrown a pint over a vehicle causing this to smash."

Devon and Cornwall Police

A 33-year-old man from Plymouth was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage. He was later released and no further action was taken.
