Drivers have been warned about hazardous conditions on the A30, due to hail and ice.

Police were called to reports of multiple crashes between Bodmin Moor and Okehampton.

Problems were also reported at Sourton Down on Tuesday morning, sparking lane closures.

However, Inrix Traffic and Travel has confirmed that the snow and collisions have since cleared.

"Hazardous driving conditions and heavy traffic due to hail and ice on A30 in both directions between A38 Launceston Road (Callywith, Bodmin) and A386 (Okehampton).

"The road is slushy and difficult due to thundery weather conditions this morning.

"There have been multiple accidents involving vehicles leaving the road this morning".

Inrix added: "All lanes open, snow cleared on A30 Westbound between B3260 (Meldon Junction, Okehampton) and A30 (Stowford Cross, Broadwoodwidger).

"Lane two (of two) was closed until snow could be cleared from the carriageway".

The weather conditions in the north and east of the county also triggered a warning from police.

"So far this morning our night turn response units have already been sent to multiple RTCs across North Cornwall caused by adverse weather conditions.

"Please be careful on your early commutes, be aware of areas where sleet has frozen into sheet ice and drive according to the conditions".
