An appeal has gone out after an alleged sexual assault after a night out in Penzance.

Police say a woman was targeted outside Lloyds Bank on Marketplace.

The incident reportedly involved a female victim and a male offender.

Officers are trying to trace several women who rushed to help in the early hours of Saturday 25th January.

They are also urging people not to share a video, understood to be doing the rounds on social media.

"We are investigating reports of an alleged sexual assault which happened following a night out in Penzance.

"We are keen to trace several women who came to the aid of the victim. Anyone who has information about this incident is asked to come forward.

"We are aware that a video of the incident has been shared on social media and while we would like to speak to those who shared it, we would also urge others not to share it further, because they could be committing an offence".

Detective Constable, Jamie Ellingham

A 30-year-old man from Penzance has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and has been released pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101@dc.police.uk or by calling 101 quoting crime reference CR/007455/20.
