Police investigating an alleged serious sexual assault in Penzance urge people not to share a video doing the rounds on social media.

Officers believe a woman was targeted by a man outside a bank on Marketplace the Saturday before last.

Detective Constable Jamie Ellingham says they want to speak to anyone who has already shared the video.

He is urging anyone else not to do so, warning they could be committing an offence.

Detectives want to trace several other women who rushed to help in the early hours of Saturday 25th January.

Anyone who saw something just between 12.30am and 1am is urged to come forward.

"We are investigating reports of an alleged sexual assault which happened following a night out in Penzance.

"We are keen to trace several women who came to the aid of the victim. Anyone who has information about this incident is asked to come forward.

"We are aware that a video of the incident has been shared on social media and while we would like to speak to those who shared it, we would also urge others not to share it further, because they could be committing an offence".
