Smoke 'billowing over A30' as fire breaks out

A fire has broken out, sending smoke billowing across the A30.

Inrix Traffic and Travel had received reports of 'multiple vehicle fires' outside a garage at Summercourt.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service has since confirmed only one was caught in the blaze by Clock Garage.

Drivers were being warned to take extra care on Thursday, because of smoke billowing across the road.

Posting on social media, locals say one vehicle pulled in after catching fire but everything is under control.

"Car fire at Clock Garage, Summercourt.

"Multiple calls recieved for this incident.

"Appliances from @NewquayCFRS and @TruroCFRS attended this incident.

"One vehicle was well alight.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished using hosereels.

"Devon and Cornwall Police attended".

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service

"Smoke blowing across the road on A30 at A3058 (Chapel Town/Summercourt Western turn-off. Traffic is coping well.

"Due to a building fire off of the road, police report there are large amounts of smoke blowing across the road which might be affecting traffic".
